Autumn Packing Tips

Happy October! For those of you looking to move house this season, packing can look like an daunting task to begin. We’re here to assure you that it’s nothing to be afraid of! So let us give you some helpful tips on how to pack your items safely and securely for their journey to your new home.

For anyone that chooses to pack themselves, partially or completely – the information below will be of big help to you! Anyone can throw things into a box, but to do so correctly means peace of mind for both you and your movers.

  • The most important part of packing a box is the filler! You can use towels, linens, pillows, or clothes for fillers. When we pack boxes, we use newsprint to fill in those extra spaces, which for us has been the most effective. If you use newsprint to pack yourselves, crumple it up and make sure it fills all the corners, the walls of the box, and any space in between your items.
  • All boxes that you’ve packed should end up being heavy and solid. Have them in a place out of the way while you’re packing them so you don’t have to worry about the weight later – your movers will take care of it then. If they’re already in place, once a box is packed, test it to see if you can hear anything loose inside the box, if there is any movement within the box at all then it’s not packed tight enough.
  • Make sure all boxes are taped tightly shut and close flat before your move day. This ensures that everything will stay inside your boxes and that they can be stacked inside the your moving truck.

As a reminder, our company can ONLY move furniture and boxes. Aside from any larger specialty items that you make known, anything that is not a piece of furniture or a furniture-sized item MUST be properly boxed or packaged somehow. That way, on your moving day, everything will be ready to go!

Remember, if you need assistance with moving, we are here to help. Please visit our website for more information or give us a call at 910-755-2058 and we’ll be happy to assist you! A smooth move with us, it’s a “shore” thing!
